Default Oil Change question

What type of oil should I use on a 93 ES300 with 164,000 miles? Last oil change was with synthetic. Should I keep changing it with synthetic (mobile 1) or should I go for the high milage oils they sell on the market?

you can go for either as long as you stay with synthetic. it's not the best idea to go back to normal oil. once you go to synthetic, the best idea is to stick with it. but there are high mileage synthetic oils. it just depends on what you want out of your car. i have Royal Purple and that's for higher mileage, more horsepower, and high mileage cars. it's a nice oil actually. i'm thinking of changing to red line some time. but not sure.

Synthetics also have the additives to rejuvinate seals in high mileage engines. Mobil 1's 10W30 (green cap) is geared for high mileage vehicles.

Zeta, that is not true that once you change to synthetics, you shouldn't go back...total myth created by the oil makers to make money. You can use what you want provided you stay within the SAE and manufacturer's requirements for viscosity and grade.

you can actually use whatever you like, synthetic or dino. maybe go dino to save money, and get an opportunity to realize how much better synthetic is....if you've always been a synthetic person, then i'd stick w/ synthetic.

My sentiments exactly. I still say what's the point of using synthetic if you plan to change your oil on a regular 3-4k mile interval. It's a waste.
