Lexus ES300 for the Pacific Northwest?
Hi all,
I am looking for something a little more affordable to purchase and own than my Subaru. I love it but it is getting expensive to keep maintaining it and I am in college so money gets tight. I am specifically looking at 98-01 models since they are a bargain compared to the 02-03 and I like the styling slightly more. I realize that I am giving up some features and comfort with that choice, but I think it is worth it.
I go to school in Eugene, Oregon but I am originally from Bend, Oregon and visit there often and therefore am driving over mountain passes quite frequently. I also am an avid skier and I try to make it to the mountain when I go over there, so snow is often being negotiated.
So, here are my questions:
How are these cars in the snow? Obviously snow tire are a must, and it looks like most of the models I have looked at are equipped with VSC which should help.
I understand the rear seats do not fold flat. Has this ever been an issue for anyone when transporting things?
Lastly, how well do racks work? Could I get a rooftop cargo box for it?
Thanks!
