Thanks for reading,
I have a friend who has a Lexus ES300 1998, and two of her tires are very leaky and two of them on one side seem to go down to 18 pounds after a week or so; and its high on her wish list to have new tires when times are better. According to my research Goodyear states that her cars takes P205/65R15 tires.
Now here is my question, and I know its probably more of a math thing, which calculates okay in my head, but I wanted to know. I have a Subaru Impreza that is fairly new, and I am not happy with the stock tires and wanted to get new tires. My tires I have are P205/55R16.
From what I understand is the width is the same, and the ratio is less to make up for the 16" tire, so in my mind these would totally work for her if I gave her my old tires when I bought my new ones?
I attempted to sell my tires when I first got the car before I even had 1,000 miles on the tires, and no one wanted them. I was told they were an usual size. But I had this notion maybe I can help my friend out, cause Im not sure what the alternative is for my old good tires when I take my vehicle to the tire shop to purchase my new tires; they will probably will just recycle them into a playground and maybe charge me a disposal fee on top of that. I doubt they would give me any credit for them.
Thanks much guys,
Ron

I totally think I answered my question, she would need to buy new rims to handle my larger tires, so this negates any cost savings by me giving her the tires. The cost of rims is probably very much the cost of new tires for her 15" rims.
