Default new spoiler!

the spoiler looks allright on my car although my dad thinks the spoiler could have been placed a little more back. i took a good look at it and putting it back more would make it stick out more in the rear.

it looks fine on other angles (there are more pics on the es300 gallery). any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thumbs up

Great looking spoiler, flip! I've personally never seen one on the '97-'99 model, but I've seen spoilers on the rest of the ES eras. Now I'm sure this makes lifting the trunk easier and more convenient. At least for me with no spoiler, I usually grasp the "L" emblem to lift and close the trunk so as not to get fingerprints, smudges and oils on the trunk itself

What part of NY are you in? I live in Connecticut, but I hang out with my relatives in Brooklyn once in a while, and hang with friends in Manhattan. We should hook up somewhere in the city, chill, BS about our ES, etc.

i never see any 97-99 ES with spoiler..

as for the question.. push it a little further. .toward the end of the trunk would look better IMO...
just let it sit on the edge of the trunk...

just my opinion ..........

I dont think any spoiler looks good on the 92-2001 es . Seems out of place . But it looks good on the 02 and up ES .

i like how the 02 es300 looks with the spoiler too. the trunk lid looks kinda like the gs b/c it's small which makes the spoiler look like its occupying most of the rear. the 97-up es300s on the other hand, have a longer trunklid and it would take a rice rocket wing to make it proportionate. anyways, im satisfied with the overall look of the spoiler, it kinda alleviates the "old person's car" look...(no offense to the older people in the club )

i was thinking of havin it brought back to the shop b/c they tried to cover up a mistake that they have drilled. its barely noticeable but still, they messed up the uniformity of my trunklid! i took a look under the trunkid to see how they srcewed in the spoiler and it seems there are already three holes like the size of a quarter on some kind of metal pillar. all that had to be done is drill within those holes. id doubt that it could be pushed to the edge. the spoiler looks nice on most angles. its how the bumper sticks out that makes it difficult to design any kind of spoiler for that car.

Has anyone seen this ES in the "Gallery" section? I was in awe of seeing this ES that has all of my favorite features (year, body color, wheels, Platinum/Coach Edition package), with a healthy-looking spoiler on top of that

that car looks familiar b/c i got my car from the same dealership- Lexus of Massapequa in Long Island. the date on the pic is april 2002 and i got my car february 2002 so i might have passed by that car in the used car lot. i was thinking of puttin 16in coach rims and painting the cladding that light greyish color on my car but its fine the way it is. if im not mistaken, that car was low mileage and price was 28g. i think i looked at that car for 3 seconds b/c i was mesmerized by the gs300! oh god did i want that car sooo bad! the first car i asked for was the is300 but their werent any used ones available. my dad was pointing to a green 96 es300 and i was like.. "ummm no." it was $10grand 35kmiles fully loaded and made sense since it would be my first car. it must be that backlit instrument panel in the 98 es that got me sold!

eventually i would come across this.(no spoiler at the time)

98 es300 $17,000 (excluding tax) with 36,900 miles and 5yr 100k mile warranty and lojack. the warranty was a must since the struts and engine mounts had to be replaced after 7 months of having the car.

Default Another ES spoiler sighting!

I was at the Lexus SUV event in Greenwich, CT yesterday with some other CL members. It was a high-class act, BTW, probably the only time in your life where you get to test-drive these $40-60K SUVs at one time. I took a stroll around the parking area, and saw this '00-'01 white ES with the Platinum package (note the wheels and BP badging) and a spoiler. And I think to myself, "This spoiler seems a bit too raised for the ES." Well, here are a couple pics to prove it, so you can judge for yourself whether the spoiler is tasteful or not

the ES tail has its own flared end, so it looks fine without a spoiler. but a flat spoiler like some ES members have aren't that bad.

Have you guys tried using the 97-00 Camry TRD spoiler lip on an ES. I tried placing that spoiler on my ES, and the it mated well with the ES. Even the toyota logo dip in the spoiler...fits PERFECTLY well with the lexus logo....That spoiler flows well with lexus tail lights....

agreed. My ES came with one and it just ruined the lines of the car, so I removed it. When the ES was designed, I bet the engineers didn't have spoilers on their minds.

On the otherhand, i think they look great on 02+ models.
