Default 2001 es300

I have a 2001 es300 and in the morning when the engine is cold the rpm's wont drop below 1000 and when I put it in reverse it goes in and out of reverse. Can anyone help with what might be causing this?
Thanks!

Your idle air control valve may need cleaning. Here is a link:

As.for your reverse problems, it seems to be an issue with the u140 transmission used in this year car, here is a link for more information :

Thanks, I will look at both of those. The shop where I take my car said that it was a reverse sensor from the bottom of the gear shifter. $359.00? I thought maybe it was the IAC sensor. I might check that first.
Thanks again

Just an FYI, after the engine is warmed up I don't have any problem with the reverse working and the RPM's drops below 1000. But if the RPM's are 1000 or 1500 then reverse sputters in and out. Could it be the AIC sensor itself?
Thanks

Could be, cleaning or replacing the iac valve would be my first course of action as it may clear up your other issues

I think I will try changing the iac valve first. I will keep you posted.
Thanks again
