Oil in wiring harness!? 1998 es300 p1300 code and ecu connector
I have dealt with this car randomly stalling for 6 months. At first on the freeway with the cruise control set it would cut out out like the transmission was slipping. Then it started getting worse. I thought it had something to do with me running it out of gas multiple times in a short period. But I realized this code Causes the ecu to cut off fuel supply so it doesn't damage the catalytic converter. I tried finding out how to diagnose this problem by searching the Internet for weeks. The most I've found are a few threads and they all seem to drift off before an answer comes.
I've finally found what I think are the correct troubleshooting procedures for this dtc p1300 igniter circuit malfunction
It had something to do with checking for spark and spark plugs. Check for open and short in igf wire between ecm and igniter. Then checking for voltage igf at the ecu and ground after unplugging igniter connector. And then checking the igt 1-3 for open and short it had like 9 steps.
I have 2 questions
Does anyone have the factory service manual fsm excerpt for the 1998 es300 for the p1300 code
And does anyone know what to do if you see what appears to be oil on the ecu wiring harness connector that includes the wires that make this code pop up. There is five connectors and only this one the bottom one has oil or something on it, I've searched online about capillary action where this has happened to other people and that it could actually be engine oil causing this

If I had oil on an electrical component I would try would use alcohol to get the oil off. If there is rubber in the component I would apply silicone after the alcohol to keep it from degrading.

Ok thanks I tried wiping some oil away and using alcohol in the connector to flush it out. I hooked it back up and the car ran fine for a minute or two. Then died. This all started happening after I ran out of gas. Could this be a fuel issue even though the code says ignition. Does anyone have the procedure for testing the fuel injectors?

Have you pulled the igniter coil off of the spark plugs to check for oil in there? I have seen gasket failures that allowed oil to seep into and flood the recesses where the spark plugs reside. If this is the case you will need to replace the valve cover gaskets and the gaskets around the spark plugs.
