Question Correcting wrong touchup paint color?

On my '02 someone had "repaired" the chips with Millennium Silver, which is DARKER than what it really is - Alabaster Metallic. All the idiot had to do was run the VIN. Anyway - can anyone tell me how to get the wrong color off and put the correct color on?

I in the past have used a product, sold in auto chains in the auto body section, that looks like a pen but has fiberglass threads at the tip.

You can clean up really small dings with this prior to paint... you might be able to take off the old touch-up paint with it. I know that when I used it, I was really surprised at how well it worked.

Sorry I don't recall the exact name and the Canadian chain that sold it has dropped it (I was recently looking for another one).

Was similar to this:

Honestly, the first question/response should be "where?" Then, "how big?"

How you deal with paint and clear coat over it on a door vs. bumper, rub strip, kick panel is different. The substrate (metal/alloy vs. HDPE or other polymerized synthetic) dictates different procedures.

So: Where? How big?

(hehehe, that's what she said)

Seconded on the fiberglass pens, they are very effective over small areas and work very very well at cleaning electrical contacts. Very handy to have around and they last quite a while. I use Eraser brand because I like the reuseable housings and the variety of grits offered.

These are very small touchups - maybe 1/4" - 3/8" max diameter.
