Default Severe Belt noise and squeaking at start up and cold temperatures.

Hey folks Any help would be appreciated. Upon start up of my 2001 es300 belts squeal terribly. Spray some liquid soap around all the pullys and it stops only for a moment. Can lack of tension cause this? Belts are in fine condition.

Thanks

Yes, you can tighten them up a bit and see it squealing goes away.

There are a bolt that you have to loosen before you can tight the adjusting bolt. They are right under the alternator. You can access both bolts from on top....hopefully you have small hands.

May be time for new belts too. If youre going to get in there and tighten bolts, I'd consider just doing the belts as well.

Most likely a loose belt. At this point it might be glazed and you might as well replace them.

Thanks for your help. I actually found the video you posted on youtube. My problem is the tensioner bolt on the alternator was snapped off by a pervious owner. Any suggestions? I can provide a photo if needed.

Should be an easy fix there is a slider block and a bolt is that what is broken? Here's the part numbers:

slider - 16385-20010
bolt - 91511-B0845
adjusting bolt - 90080-11617 (this is the long bolt)

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. It was the long adjuster bolt that broke.
