I hope you weren't doing this on OEM tires. That's a dangerous combo with passengers on board. Drive safely!

Only
I only hit 110 and stopped because the car started shaking a little, needless to say I am a punk when it comes to speeding with the es. I couldn't imagine going that damn fast in this car, but if you did than more power to you.

I was going straight and i'm not going downhill... but i'm not sure if there is wind on my back or not...
I did it on my OEM tires... as for 240km/h... i'm not exact sure that's the exact speed... coz you know how the speedo goes off the higher the speed you go... but it was pointing at 240km/h on the speedo approx...
Actually i wouldn't dare to go that fast if i were alone... i have gone 220km/h alone but the car was really floaty... it actually felt stable with 3 passenger in the car going at 240km/h compare to going 220km/h alnoe... and don't worry guys i did it at 2am so there is almost no cars on the highway...
Anyways it's nothing really just wanted to tell everyone that our car CAN hit 240km/h or 149mp/h
I hope it helps...
PS i rarely go ultra speed on the highway but my friend in his BMW 330Xi was tailgating me then zoomed pass me really fast... it was taunting me to speed so i did it... i blast past him at 240 while his car's speed cut is at 210

actually, i'm very surprised the car went that fast w/ all that weight.
and FYI, driving on a practically deserted road (as opposed to rush hour) and crashing sucks too!

From the Lexus CPO site for the 1997 ES:
http://www.lexus.com/cpo/model_library/es_97.html
Top track speed 137 mph.
I'm guessing that's the maximum the stock tires can handle.

For those of you who don't believe... i don't blame you... i didn't believe it... but it was showing that on the dash... too bad i didn't have my digi cam with me... next time if i do hit that speed again... i'm sure to take a pic of it and post it for you guys...
BTW: my speedo also stops at 220km/h or 140mp/h... but the needle kept going pass the max point... i was going at approx 5000rpm at 220km/h... who knows maybe there was wind behind me to help me use up my last 1000rpm...
I know it's dangerous... but tell, me who doesn't do anything crazy once in a while?

Just because you pegged the needle doesn't really mean you were really going that fast. Speedos are usually not accurate to the dot...especially if you have aftermarket wheels with a different diameter or a non -stock sized tire.
