Need Help Diagnosing Whining/Buzzing Noise
Car: 2006 ES330
Two days ago (Tuesday) my CEL came on. I went to the local Autozone and was told that there is a misfire in cylinders #1 and #2. I called my mechanic and he said it is likely the plugs but could be the coils, so i'm going to him tomorrow morning to get them replaced.
This morning though, I turned on the car and immediately noticed a "whining/buzzing" noise that intensified when I turned the steering wheel left in park. I did not hear this noise on Tuesday when the CEL came on.
I took the car for a quick drive around the neighborhood and I noticed that the "whining" also intensified when I accelerated. Could this be related to the misfire or do you think this is an entirely separate issue? Fwiw, i'm in Texas and the weather has been between 40 and 60 degrees the past two days.
I had Autozone check my battery, alternator, and starter when I found out about the misfires and all three are good.
I wanted to ask you all if this whining noise is symptomatic of the misfiring issue.
Thanks!

I would ask autozone what those codes were.
Sounds like an oil control valve issue.
how many miles on the car ? coils are usually good for 200k, iridium plugs about 100k.

yah, I've had that whine when my high pressure hose was leaking.
At first I thought it was my pump cause the pump would be soaked with fluid.
Another issue as a result of the leak was I would get this white smoke coming from the front of the car! This was from the power steering fluid dripping onto the rear exhaust manifold.
I'd check and refill the power steering reservoir soon cause running your pump dry will damage it.
Also you need to find where the leak is. Most likely it's the rubber portion of the high pressure hose.
