Default TRD oil filters by Toyota...anyone tried them?

So i usually just go to Toyota, tell them i have an 00 es300 and get the standard oil filter. Seen these TRD ones and wondering if they are any better. Anyone tried them out?

I saw those but I don't think they're worth it for something you have to replace every 5000 miles.

I got the V8 Filters that I posted about in my thread.

90915-YZZD3 vs 90915-YZZD1.

The D3 stuff is for V8 Toyotas and Lexuses.

I have one on my car right now.

Bought a case of these D3 filters for around 50 bucks, comes out to about $5 a filter!

yes, the D1 is the normal Filter for all Toyota V6s.

The D3 is about an inch taller, with more filtering element. Look at my thread I have a pic comparing the 2.

only thing to keep in mind is the filter cap tool is different between the 2 filters so if you have one for the D1 it won't fit the D3, but they do sell this tool on amazon for $6.33 addon program.

here's a link:
Amazon.com: STEELMAN 06116 Oil Filter Cap Wrench 14 Flute x 73mm: Automotive Amazon.com: STEELMAN 06116 Oil Filter Cap Wrench 14 Flute x 73mm: Automotive

D3 filters are also sold on Amazon, here's a 5 pack
Amazon.com: Toyota Genuine Parts 90915-YZZD3 Oil Filter 1/2 Case (QTY 5): Automotive Amazon.com: Toyota Genuine Parts 90915-YZZD3 Oil Filter 1/2 Case (QTY 5): Automotive

case of 10 here:
Amazon.com: Toyota Genuine Parts 90915-YZZD3 Oil Filter 1 Case (QTY 10): Automotive Amazon.com: Toyota Genuine Parts 90915-YZZD3 Oil Filter 1 Case (QTY 10): Automotive

I got my washers here, I split half with a friend, so basically I got 50 for $10.50!

The -D1 is a good filter and if you are getting it at a good price, don't worry. If I could get them cheaply/easily, I'd use them and this is a subject I am picky about.

The -D3 can trap and hold more particulate, but unless you have a dirty engine you are cleaning up, you are likely to never need that in any reasonable OCI. But it won't hurt at all, just be sure you check your oil level, it will take another 1/4 qt. to fill with it (not a critical issue by any stretch). I use an oversize filter on my cars - one because it is hard on oil and needs it, and on the Lexus because, hey, I can. I have cut upon some of my filters from the ES (Toyota/Denso, Wix, Motorcraft) and never seen an issue or a filter stretched beyond normal use, and I go 7.5k mile OCIs on the ES. Mostly easy highway miles and M1 HM oil.

If you do like the oversize idea, what I have settled on is the Motorcraft FL-400S. The media is not as good as the TRD filter - but it is very much like the Toyota/Denso OE in filtration and flow, and the construction is both intelligent and robust (thread-end bypass, silcone ADBV, steel core, etc). It is the size equivalent of the -D3 and fully equivalent in all regards, but easy to get everywhere for $3.70.
