Got a problem and need help. May be fuel related.
So last week I was driving to work and as I was pulling in I heard my engine running rough as my mph dropped under 20mph while parking. Didn't think much of it until I got back to my vehicle after my shift. That's when I noticed the trouble.
When I first start the car the rpms race to about 1500 then settle down to 1000. It sounds a little loud but not much. Then I shift into reverse.. The rpms drop to about 500 and my entire car starts to shake the second it in gear. My first instinct was to give it gas to up the rpms. As I gave it gas my rpms dropped even more and the engine threatened to cut out. I let up on the gas and let it limp it's way to 10mph. When I put it in drive the same loud shaking persisted but when I let it coast forward at about 10mph and gave it a little gas it eventually responded. Once I was on the road going 35-40mph the shaking subsided and it seemed to be fine, but at every red light and stop sign the violent shaking returned. It takes a lot more pressure on the gas pedal to get it to maintain speed and the engine is auditabley roaring one I hit the highway. I changed the fuel filter with no change in performance.
From what I've read it sounds like the fuel pump is going out or the fuel pressure regulator is bad. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Start with the Simple things.
1) Did you fill it up recently? Maybe you got a bad load of fuel?
2) Blocked Catalytic converter?
At least start by eliminating these as a possibilitties.
Any check engine lights on?
What year is your car?

Fuel issue related
Hello
Put any good quality fuel treatment with less than half of gas tank. Run it for 10minutes. May be your fuel filter is clogged it happens when you keep low gas level in the tank.

Thanks for the responses
The Lexus es300 is a 97
Fuel filter was replaced a few days ago, but the problem persisted
Just got a bottle of fuel cleaner and I'll run it tomorrow.
Haven't checked the converter but now I will. Thanks all

Hey man! I have a 97 Es 300 too and I had that exact problem!
Mine came when I changed timing belt/Cleaned inyectors/Sparks/Oil/redo camshaft in block/replaced gaskets, when my mechanic placed the engine it was a mess throwing white smoke and very weak performance it wasn't even getting to 2nd gear.
The exhaust is still disconnected.
The solution was AND ITS MY RECOMMENDATION you have to recalibrate the valves and check/change the chips (I don't know the exact name for those).
The scanner threw the same P0300 error pointing at P0301,03,05 the same 3 cylinders.
All including the smoke where fixed. My engine sounds like is back in 1997.

Again, thanks to everyone that's been posting.
Just did a drive around the block and the same problems remain. Codes now showing 300-306, 100, 402, 110, 1411. Feeling kinda stumped. Thinking about buying a new egr but I don't want to dump $150 if that's not the problem

Update
So I've narrowed the codes down to P0100, P110, and P1411. I cleaned the egr and made sure the valve opened and closed properly and I cleaner the mass air flow sensor. I'm really running out of ideas. From the way it abruptly stopped running properly I feel like something broke but I have no idea what that may be. Any insight helps.
