Easy repair for vacuum hose to VSV on front engine mount
This is a quick repair for the lengthy vacuum hose that disappears from that "T" just in front of the airbox and runs down and disappears behind the radiator. It goes down and connects to a vacuum switching valve mounted to the front engine mount. It hardens and splits at the "T" and there's really no extra length to snip it back and re-attach. Also, it is VERY small, maybe 1mm, after you cut the end off. I had no luck finding adaptable tubing or a hose barb that small.
What I did was find some fuel-grade hose in the drawer that fit the "T". I then spliced it into the existing hose by fitting both free ends into a 1/4" ID piece of hose acting as a repair sleeve. In the picture below my new hose is clear and you can trace it down to see how to make a sleeve out of slightly larger fuel hose.
Getting at the business end of it on the motor mount and replacing the entire run of hose is very tedious and difficult with the belly pan to remove, radiator hoses in the way, etc. (I have had that mount out before and it's a bit annoying).
I THINK this is the PWM VSV for the EGR based on some diagrams, but I'm not sure exactly what the switch is down there. Perhaps someone could clarify.

Sorry to bump a very old thread but I'm actually about to repair my vacuum line in that same exact spot. What size is the vacuum line right there? is 5/32? I was going to just use a vacuum line connector. The old line started to crack and make a whistling sound.

It’s missing!
thanks
