Default Loss of engine power, rough idle, stalling, bad fuel mileage

Hey Lexus Fam,
I'm new here and I really need help. My friend and I was working on my 99 Lexus es300 over the weekend. I'm no mechanic but he has a little experience on cars. Anyways my Lexus was running a little rough like it needs the throttle body and MAF sensor to be cleaned. So he took the air filter off and replaced that with a new one. He took out the MAF sensor and cleaned it. He sprayed the TB and he sprayed about half the can into the hole (in front of the flapper valve). We wait for an hour and start the car. It was running rough so I drove it around and heard a loud noise from the engine. Pop the hood and the two boot connected from the TB to the plastic air intake was a crack. It must of been when we took it off and those boots are factory old. So I replaced the two boot but when I start the it became worse. It loss engine power, loud rattle noise coming from the catalytic converter, stalling on idle and accelerated, it sounds like it's flooded or clogged. It was driving okay before we did this and also one mechanic told to fix my catalytic converter soon. So it's been 5 days and still the same. Please help.

I've heard that cleaning the MAF is a iffy procedure. I've read in this forum that it is "self cleaning". Maybe you messed the MAF up.

MAFs aren't self-cleaning, but IME it's an over-rated proceedure. It is indeed 'iffy' if you try to do it manually (they are quite fragile), but not a big risk if you use a spray from a few inches away.

My bet is on excess VOCs from an overdose of cleaner detonating a Cat.

I read somewhere on this forum that they were from a common poster. Seems some MAF heat up very hot after the engine is stopped to burn off any gunk on the wire. But I cannot find the post now!
