Default Need Some Advise On New Headlights For My 2006 ES330

I am trying to decide if I want to do Halo Headlights on my car, the factory are fading just alittle , or if i should restore them and convert them to LED lights .
Any one have any thoughts on the subject

I had a 2005 Lexus ES330 with fading halogen projector headlights and have considered the "upgrade" to those Halo lights.

Prior to that I had the halo projector lights on a Camry. They were great lights, paired with an HID kit, very bright. The Halo rings were LED and quite dull though:

In my personal opinion, those lights don't belong on an ES330. You should buff your headlights and get them vinyl wrapped so they don't rehaze. This is what I did to my lights:

Finally, LED headlights are not yet at their prime time yet as aftermarket replacements. I tested a set in the fog lights and they cause too much glare. They didn't last long either. Here's a video review:

And if you think your going to be better off with an HID kit in the halogen housings, well don't try it. I tried it and because of the optics of the projector lense the cutoff shield blocks most of the usable light. I've tried adjusting the bulb and playing with the cut off shield and its still dimmer than stock.

Here's a quick shot of them installed on the car, skip to 1:34:

Do you have Xenon or Halogen lowbeams? If halogen, Opt7 makes a plug and play kit for both the primary low beam and 9005 high beam that's good quality, I converted my ES to Quad Projectors a little while back.

Nice video as with all your videos. Yes there is more glare, but that would be expected with a brighter light source. It's putting about double the lumens of the original bulb on the road. The LED outperforms in both applications while consuming less current. The Opt7 is another 50-60 bucks more than the ebay kits, but you get a 2 year warranty with it so you can send the bulb back anytime during two years if you need. I transferred the 9005 kit from my ES into my LX high beam projectors and will install the H11 LED fogs soon.

And your post shows the improvement from replacing the interior LEDs - that's a great, inexpensive and easy lighting mod you can appreciate every time you get in your car at night.

More brightness doesn't mean more glare. Its how the light is distributed within the housing that causes glare. LED's have only two sources of light, are are not positioned in the distance from the center bowl of the reflector as the filament in an incandescent bulb. Same goes with HID's, hence the glare.

Thanks, yes LED interior lights can really transform a ride and is one of the first few mods I'd do to my cars (along with window tints).

The Halo kit on ebay is crap, with a cheap plastic projector. Buff your lights and install a 50-100 dollar PNP LED kit if you want to upgrade the output.

There are good HID kits too but the LED is literally plug and play and installs in a couple of minutes.
