99 ES 300 Overheating while idle with a/c on
So i've tested the fans by hooking them up to 12v directly and they turn on.
Tested all 3 fan relays that I know of by reading the ohms and they are fine.
Can't find any fan fuses for the radiator.
I think the sub cooling fan isn't coming on all the time but the main fan is. So i'm thinking the fan and/or relay is dying.
Can anyone point me to the relay that turns the sub cooling fan on. Part # with link where i can buy it would be nice.
Also another note, I don't think i idle the car enough with no a/c to have it over heat. It may overheat with no a/c too.
Are both fans suppose to come on with a/c turned on?
Any other input?
Thanks

Just turn the AC on and watch your fans to see if they both come on.
Both should be on with the same speed when the AC is on. This as long as the compressor is on.
if fans are working, than the next step should be to check that the radiator and condenser fins are not dirty or blocked. You may have to pressure wash them.

The fans are both on running at the same speed when a/c is on.
Car hasn't overheated again. Fans seem to come on somewhere around 199 degrees fahrenheit. Then the car stays between 199 and 203.
I think i'll just have to keep an eye on the fan every time I'm done driving to make sure they are both running with a/c on. And eventually replace the fan when I have the time and hope that fixes it. Luckily summer temps are almost done so less a/c will be used.

Just an update in case anyone comes across this thread.
I went ahead and replaced the relay first and that fixed the problem.
On your diagram on the fuse box it states Fan No.1' Fan No.2, and Fan No. 3.
Fan No.1 Is your main radiator fan, the bigger one
Fan No.2 Is your smaller radiator fan
I couldn't find any information regarding Fan No. 3 so I replaced that relay too.
Also finding the OE Denso relays seemed impossible so I bought the airtex/wells from rock auto. Working so far.
