No more keys....
So i have a 2002 ES300, and always had 1 key. This key, ofcourse, broke off of the fob due to it's terrible design. Hasn't been an issue, just holding the fob against the key and it it starts..
The problem now: the plastic separated and the electronics fell out and nowhere to be found. No i have the metal part of the key and an empty fob case. I am using the spare key at the moment (the credit card sized "valet key" i guess?)
So the question is, if i buy this... https://www.remotesremotes.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=L_1512V-4BTN-KEY-x2&gclid=CjwKEAjwl4q-BRDtzJmSk-uGunkSJACmCOY-Etdu028yFfK5aTms-Qlk2qI6JPpeMyB-YdBAQOROXxoCVPPw_wcB ... and take it to be programedand cut, will it work?
Just seems too easy to be true since the dealer wants $800 for these babies... also im wondering if theres a way to program these fobs myself, like a weird button combo or something... thanks in advance

First check to make sure your current chip is recognized as a master key and not a valet key. When you insert your key into the ignition the security light should go out immediately. If it remains on for a second or two then goes out, then you have a valet key.
If you have a valet key you're going to need to reset the immobilizer ECU. This can be done through the dealer or a locksmith. Or if your good with electronics you can do it yourself, as I've done here (the 4ES has it separate from the ECU though):

Once you've bought an eBay key (which BTW I don't recommend as your main key, they don't always work that great, the range sucks, I've had them, get OEM guts instead), you have to reprogram it using Toyota Techstream software. The cable can be bought for $20 on eBay and it comes with the software. A dealer might charge $100 for this alone.
