Default 2000 ES 300 Price

Hi, I am on a quest to buy my first car, but I want to know is $2,700 a reasonable or good price for a 2000 ES300?

The car is mechanic owned and is in pretty decent shape with some scratches and scrapes on the outside. Has about 165k miles. No tears/rips on the seats and inside seems clean.

What this ES recently had replaced and done by the mechanic is: 2 engine mounts, spark plugs, ignition coils, 2 value cover gaskets, 4 struts, drive belts, both radiator hoses; cooling systems flush, oil change and filter, air and fuel filter and lastly throttle body clean.

Price is highly dependent on the area that your in.
Up here in Canada, $2700 is a lot for a 3rd gen ES.

What you didn't mention was if the vehicle has been in any accidents previously and if the timing belt has been changed. Those two things will have an impact on the price you pay. Also, the 99-01 ES300 transmissions were less reliable than the 97-98 models, so take the vehicle for a test drive and make sure the tranny checks out good.

Start searching craigslist. $2600 is fair if its a well maintained and 'great' vehicle. Fair ES will pull low 1800-2200, Good ES will pull 22-2400, poor will pull less than $1500. In my area.

I would negotiate as best you can and see if they will do $2400, but dont expect it.

I just payed $4000 for a 2002 ES 3000 that has 150K, this very very clean, a few cosmetic issues on the exterior and no timing belt change.

Hey guys, I wanted to let y'all know that I've bought the ES300 and am now an official Lexus owner. Asking price was $3,600, but I brought it down to $2,700, which may be a bit high.

The ES is a clean title car, drives fine and shifts smooth, but is a bit bumpy due to cheap struts. The ES has some scruffs, stratches, rock chips, a bit of rust on the scruffs and both side mirrors have completely lost their paint. I plan sometime later to spray paint the side mirrors a few coats and some clear coat after that, let me know what y'all think about that. Also, the clock LCD is blank, but everything else seems to light up fine.

I could later post some pictures if y'all wanna see.

Congrats on the buy! In terms of the clock LCD, you could try reworking the solder in the resistors as detailed here.

Congrats. I'd take a $2700 ES with a good coat of paint than my $1600 ES with peeling clearcoat and failing paint on the hood, roof, and trunk.

Looks great. Since mechanic owned, I would expect it to be properly maintained. Enjoy...

$2700 is a great price IMO. Anything around that price range in my area here in California would have 200k ++ miles with salvage title most likely. That or it could be a Gem and someone desperately needs the cash .

I just paid $3400 for a 2000 with 147k miles. Paint Has scratches here and there, front left fender has a dent and roof is slightly oxidizing + front bumper and hood has lots of rock chips in the paint.

Good looking car. Very shiny paint and looks like it was taken care of. I love my 97 and it is still going strong! Congratulations man!
