2002 ES300 Intermittent Start Issue - Sometimes Starts Sometimes Doesnt
Hi there,
2002 ES300 (198KMS --> From Canada) experiencing intermittent starting issues. Winter time here at the moment so cold weather has aggravated the issue (see below)
Car will crank, turn and not fire intermittently. Sometimes she will start right away without any hesitation and other times she will not fire for 5-20mins. It seems entirely random as I can go out and pay for gas...come back the car wont start for 20 mins.,, other times I can turn it on and off 10 times in a row without any hesitation. No lights on and no pending codes that could be seen by an OBD scanner. After 5-20 mins if I attempt to turn on the car she may fire and turn on immediately. Issue has recently started ever since cold temperatures below zero have begun around here. After speaking to a few individuals, we have identified the crankshaft/camshaft position sensor as potential culprits? Any advice, diagnosis and potential DIY?
Thank you
