Lexus 2000 es300 trac light on, check engine light on, transmission gear indicator on dash malfuctioning. Those are the symptoms I am experiencing. The transmission indicator light just goes randomly into reverse but the car is in drive. Traction control light and check engine light are on; on the dash board. Car was taken to a mechanic and they said the problem was a "switch" that seem to be located under a black cover/box, under/near the front bumper. This is my moms car are the dealer said the part costs $500. She can't afford a $500 part so I am here to verify everything, to see if this is really a $500 part, and can it be fixed cheaper. Thanks for all your help....

What are the OBDII error codes? Some auto parts will read them for free or buy a cheap OBDII reader and read them yourself.
