Wind Noise When I'm Driving with the Windows Up
#2
I had this problem with my '94 ES from the time it was new! My Lexus dealer tried fixing it, but it never worked so I learned to live with it. There was a TSB for '95 ES's, maybe that'll work. Look at line #31 from the AllData link. http://www.alldata.com/TSB/31/95310306.html

I also have this problem, but only on the driver's side though. It starts getting "noticable" around 50-60mph. Don't have any idea for a fix, but I'll bring it to the dealer soon to have it inspected.

Wind noise was a noticeable problem on my previous '96 ES, especially on the driver's side. The rubber seal or gasket was not properly sealed as the gaskets from the other doors. This is an obvious problem for cars with frameless doors; the rubber seals will degrade in time, no matter how often the car was driven. I tried spraying WD-40 and applying a little epoxy to the existing seal, but to no avail. The dealer said the only solution to this problem is to install a new set of rubber seal(s) for the car, and parts alone can cost as much as $80 per seal! That's why I learned to live with it instead, and now for my '01 ES, I don't get any wind noise

It's an air leak on a window. The air through where it's leaking and produces a whistle effect. Simply seal the hole. It's up to you to decide with what
My '93 coorolla had that problem after a chirt truck slung some gravel on the windshield and it cracked. The cheapest fix I could think of was some Silicone. I picked that btw because you can get it off when it comes time to, unlike Epoxy, which is nearly immunue to dissolvants.
Epoxy is wierd stuff. It cures and uncures with heat. Gotta love it in all it's brittleness though

no, mine is not air leaking, it is the seal flapping back and forth very fast when the pressure gets really low on the outside because of my high speed. it's not a big problem for me, i just press the recirculate button and it goes away til about 115 or 120. but after 115, the wind noise is loud enough for me to not care about the flapping seal, and at abotu 135 my door sounds like its going to get blown off. personally i say go for the new seals, or try and get some from a junkyard. all of the fixes you do to it will only last for a little bit, and will not perform like new seals. you are driving an older car, sometimes you need to ignore the minor things or just replace the part. i mean, the car is old, stuff is gonna start to wear away.

This is State Trooper Johnson speaking. I would like to know if you're in the USA and if you're talking about 115,120 or 135 in MPH or KMH. Are you driving at these speeds on State Roads or on a Race Track?

LOL amf!!
I had a moderately bad wind leak in my 95 ES. i think it was from the drivers side window, the rubber stripping was bent outta shape. i always had the radio on so....i'd just focus on that, but its funny though, cuz if i had the moonroof closed, but the moonroof cover open, the wind noise from there would bug me enough to close the cover.

Ok... Well the dishonest answer would be to set and afternoon aside for the project.
1) find a medium size stone
2) project stone at window with enough force to crack, but not shatter the glass
3) call insurance agency and blame it on <insert state/corperation vehicle here>
4) glass doctors replace the window for free
It helps if it's illegal in your state to not have loose material transported on dump trucks covered by a tarp.
A friend told me that years ago when he ran his lifted pickup into a limb and you get the picture LoL!

the problem is not your seal
i thought it was also
easy fix is using silicone spray
it may work
and atleast show where the window is not sealing
the problem comes from the door being closed ( pressing your hand on the glass)
by the window not the door hadle
this causes the window to go out of alignment
to fix this you need to open the door up and adjust the glass inside the door
i already wasted teh money on new seals once

I had excessive howling from the front driver's side window. I applied 3 layers of window tint where the glass meets the gasket to fill the gap. It fixed the problem and saved me $125 to have the seals redone.
The major problem is the moonroof. The seals there are worn and the noise is ridiculous. I've talked with a few other ES owners, and the best solution at the time seems to be a wind deflector.
I'm gonna give this a shot, mine should be in after June 14th.
Good luck,
