Strange fog/film on inside of windshield and windows
I recently purchased a 1996 lexus es300. After driving it home I realized there is some kind of strange almost wax or oil like film on the inside of the windshield and on the inside of all the windows. It is especially noticeable at night. My first time driving the car at night it was so blurry I considered pulling over due to the visibility being so horrible.
I made it home and cleaned the windshield and windows inside and out 3 times with glass cleaner. This however didn't take care of the problem. It is noticeable driving during the day but not as bad as at night. Again the wax/oil like blurry smudge became so noticeable at night I indeed had to pull over because I couldn't see out of the windshield. I ran the defroster and this actually did temporarily help, however it obviously didn't clear the grease or whatever it is off the windows.
I cleaned the windshield and all windows several more times with glass cleaner which didn't remove the film. Simple Green didn't remove it. I tried using white vinegar - didn't help. I tried using paint thinner and even acetone on a small corner and this didn't help either.
I've never seen this before and am not sure what else to do. Anyone heard of this, know what it is, and what can be used to remove it?

I just found these links. Looks like a somewhat common issue amongst Toyotas. Seems the suspects are antifreeze/heater core or plastics heating up from the dash.
I guess my next question after fixing the problem is how to remove the oily gunk. I'll try Alcohol, Windex, and Ammonia as was recommended and if anything works report back.
