2000 Lexus ES300 Transmission disengaging but Restarting fixes it for 5 minutes
I start my car, it drives just fine for 3-4 blocks and then disengages after taking a few jerks, then completely disengages. If you change the gear to D, R, L or 2 nothing happens at all. If I turn off the car for 2 minutes, it will start driving just fine once again for 3-4 blocks and does the same thing again.
My friend who knows transmission fairly well is telling me this doesn't seem to be a transmission issue. He thinks it is more like a computer related issue.
Facts:
1- Mileage: 176K
2- Checked Dip stick and transmission fluid looks pinkish in color and looks pretty goos to me. The oil level was perfect too.
3- No check engine light
What do you guys think it is and what should I do?
