93 es300 steering dead zone
I am in process of restoring a 1993 Lexus ES-300. I recently had the transmission rebuilt and soon after noticed a dead zone in the steering between 10-2 o'clock. The car handles well when turning left or right, and only appears to falter in the 10-2 range.
Is this most likely the rack and pinion, gear box or other, and is there a means of testing to be sure before buying the components?
Thanks,
Ken D.

look at the mounts on the rack under the car and see if it moves from side to side as the steering wheel is turned, sounds like the bush that holds the rack in place is gone, usually from and oil leak
