it's fixed! i cleaned the contacts off very well, and in no time the blinker was working normally again. it's a lot brighter than it used to be. this sure beats paying $600 for a new headlamp, and even $13 for a new bulb socket. thanx again for ur help everyone!

well, i just used WD-40 because that's all i had around me at the time. i drenched a q-tip with it and scrubbed the small contacts on the outer ring of the socket. then i let it dry in the sun for a few minutes. but a response one or two replies back gives an answer for a proper cleaner. just scrub real well with a q-tip and let it dry. good luck

Try checking the auto parts store too, for contact cleaner. I was in Auto Zone yesterday getting a light bulb and noticed that they sell small bottles of contact stuff (I believe it is a grease) that you apply to the plug on your bulbs to prevent corrosion and rust. After cleaning them, I would try some of this stuff.

(I believe it is a grease)
I doubt that it's grease, because grease is an insulator NOT a conductor.

I like my blinker blinking 2X faster. I reversed the turn signal bulbs on my clear corner so it will stay on at it's full brightness, but signalling on it won't work unless you keep the corner lights off. I then attached a small signal idicator connecting it to the signal wires to have orange signal when lights are on.

I will post pics to help understand better.

OK......I stand corrected! Normally grease is non-conductive, but they now manufacture Silver or Carbon based thermal grease which is conductive.

it is probably very similar to if not the same as dielectric compound. It is more to keep the water/moisture out.

Why do you guys not like it when it's blinking 2x fast? I love mine like that...regular speed is just too slow and makes it look like you move like a grandma.
