rodger,
I noticed a similar noise in my rear view mirror shortly after buying my 2002 new. Took awhile to figure out where the sound was coming from as it only seemed to occur occasionally. This may sound crazy, but I angled the mirror down, as in looking at the seat, then repositioned. It has not reoccurred since. My guess is there may have been something loose or rattling inside the mirror assembly and moving as described may have stretched the wiring or repositioned whatever may have been loose. Regardless of the silliness of this fix, I've driven approx 20K since with no more of that noise. Good luck with yours.
Brad

thanks brad,

it may sound like a silly complaint but hte rest of the car is so quiet it seems to amplify the noise to my ears. I'll try it today and let you know how it goes.

Roger:
Not a silly complaint at all. My dealer couldn't figure out the problem as it was intermittent. I was reluctant to tell you of my fix as it seemed rather silly, but it worked. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your car as much as I have mine.

In all honesty, I think Lexus should compensate us for our "silly fixes". These silly fixes often times saves their face (and butts) with customers that don't know about clublexus.

keep the silly fixes coming if they work.
