Default 2003 Lexus ES300 - Timing Belt Issues

Do you typically need to replace the timing belt on Lexus after 100,000 miles?

Welcome to the forum. Here is a thread about your question, and you might want to post future questions in the Es section, as this is the sc430 section. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...ming-belt.html

Yes, that is a good interval. I think the actual number recommended is 90k but most go 100 to make it round. The plugs are due at 120 and its also a big job because of rear access; I find it convenient to do both at 100.

Read your owner's manual. All service intervals are specified there...

I have a 2003 ES 300 and I replaced the timing belt and water pump at around 90ish thousand miles. Although I did not reach 100k at that time, the car was still older and it is recommended to replace it every 9 years I believe. I bought all the parts online - OEM from Toyota, actually, and brought the car to a local guy to install and just paid him the labor. Only $350 for the timing belt, water pump, gaskets, and all other drive belts - all in one package and all OEM Denso Toyota parts. Not bad, right? In the end, it cost about $300-$400 less than if I would have brought it into the dealership. It's better to be safe than sorry and replace it - if you don't and the belt snaps, the car is finished.
