94-96 taillights on a 93
Does the tail lights for 94-96 fit on a 93? and if so, can the 95-96 tail light signals be cleared? I know that it has 1 less light bulb in the harness than the 93 but will it fit the car?

95-96 tails (i dont think 94's?) do not touch the license plate....there's like 2 inches of painted part in between. in the earlier models (92-94 i assume), the taillights touch the license plate. very minor thing that you wont notice til you see them side by side.

edit:
ok here is some old lady driving down the street's poor 92-94 ES. although i had to blur out the plate number, you can clearly see that the taillights meet the plates. now i have to look for a 95-96 ES.

Invisibleman,
From the looks on the outside, I'm pretty sure the '95-'96 tailights should fit on a '93 OK. Lengthwise, the tailights are shorter than their predecessor but there's probably going to be a small gap between the inner end of the tailight and the body panel near the license plate. However, your main concern should be the locations of the 10mm mounting bolts behind the tailight assembly (there are at least 4 or 5 in each). I can't say if the configuration of those bolts is similar on both the '95-'96 tails and the '92-'94 ones, but this is something you should check on in your spare time.
Bulbs are not a problem, the types are similar on both model ES.
As far as clearing the tail lights, I remember seeing some pictures of a '92-'94 ES with cleared tails, so that should make it possible on the '95-'96 ones. I hear it takes more effort though than the headlights since there is a bigger area in the part to work on, and the lens is more vulnerable to cracking.

Good catch meZoom! in pointing out the difference in license plate gaps. I always thought the only differences were the lengthening of the amber strip, and the deletion of the marker bulb above the turn signal.
Check out the gallery, Kyle Harty's car is an example of a 92-94 with cleared tails, while Ghetto-Pimp's car is a 95-96 with cleared out tails.

Stock, I like the 92-94 style better. It looks 'complete'. There's something strange about the 95-96 tails. I think it's over simplified. However, once cleared, I think the 95-96 looks fantastic.

you know what...i used to have a really handy parts sheet list for the ES that i somehow managed to get rid of. it had the part #s, prices and diagram drawings of every part of the ES's throughout all the years, so it would've been really useful in this case.
