If anyone here can help, please advise.
I bought a knock sensor from Ebay for 25 dollars (2005 Lexus ES330). Noticed that the part was Denso, so wasn't too concerned. Also, the majority of the search results on google had the price listed ar between 20 and 40 dollars. However, the dealer was asking for 170.
After replacing the sensor and putting everything back together, I got a code p0333. Engine was idling at over 1000 rpm. No other codes were present, however, what really bothered me was the slightly high pitched whirring sound. After a while, the engine settled down,s eemed to idle normally (with the whirring noise in the background).
Also, another thing to point out was that only one of the two knock sensors were changed out, along with the wire harness. Do I have a bad sensor? It appears to be a new Densor part. Could something more serious be going on related to slighlty high pitched whirring noise? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Many of the eBay Denso components are fake. Knock sensor, unless real OEM Denso will seldom work properly in our cars. Chances are good that you may have bought one of the fake ones.

I've used these before and they worked each time (three times) - but yes, they are fake. Attractive pricing, but I have heard various reports of them not working out of the box. Best to go with the OEM part, even though it'll run you $300+.
In fact, I have a knock sensor replacement on an RX300 coming up, and I'm going to cut the OEM and a couple fake Densos open with an angle grinder for a write-up, to see inside.

I bought a pair of denso knock sensors from eBay for cheap as well. I bought it from a top rated seller, gold ribbon, made me feel safer. They've been working fine for quite a while now.

Just an update,
I had to go back in and take off the plenum as well as the intake mannifold in order to access the knock sensor, again. Compared the old one and the new one (ebay knock sensor) side by side, looked exactly the same, however the part number was slightly different. Put the old one back on and the code is gone, engine is running fine as well. I had bought it from Ebay because the seller was highly rated, the part was oem (Denso), and Ebay confirmed the fit with my model. In short, lesson learned, the hard way. There goes my weekend.
