Default 2001 coach es300 transmission bad , what are replacement choices?

My 2001 ES300 transmission is toast. The engineer is still strong with consistent RPMS Having difficulty finding a 99, 00, or 01 used transmission. Was told a Camry v6 transmission from the same yr range will work. Are there any other years or vehicles ( like gs 300, or other camries) that are compatible? Any buddy have the exact transmission model numbers & automobile years I should be looking for?

Thank you,
Danfall

A Camry trans will NOT work. The V6 Camry got the A541E (as did the Avalon, Sienna, and non-VVT ES300 which was pre '99). The '99-'01 ES got the U140E trans.

I would check car-part.com to see if nearby junkyards have one for you.

Default So is there a replacement 2001 es300 transmission or not?

If one looks at the the posting entitled: "99 ES 300 U140E interchange"
someone appears to reply that the trannys of the following vehicles are all interchangeable.

U140E Applications:

2002–2004 Camry (V6)
2001–2003 Highlander (V6)
1999-2003 Lexus ES 300

Am I interpreting this right or am I not?
I had heard that for at least the 2000/2001 Lexus es300
the Camry V6 1999 -2002 transmissions were compatible.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thank you,

Danfall

^^^
I'm curious on the 2002-2004 Camry tranny. I've been wondering if it is possible to swap in a 5spd auto and make it work.

The table you are citing is quoting global applications. The A541 was in the Camry in North America and you can't use one, as was mentioned. So no, you are not interpreting that correctly since you have not identified the dataset it is based upon. I have seen that data and it appears in the Transtec application guide for example. But it is global and not location-specific.

To use a 02+ U151E, you'd need to change the powertrain control unit, too. The harnesses are not compatible, nor the programming within the PCU. Also, you'd then need to re-wire the engine, too, since the 01 and 02 engines are managed differently. It would be a difficult, tedious job.

Your existing transmission could also be rebuilt, so it's not like there are no alternatives...

^^^ i figured a lot of re-wiring was going to be needed. coming from swapping honda's, i have this "well if i can do it in a honda, I'm sure i can do it with anything" mentality lol. I also looking into a manual swap as well. that seems more doable than a 5spd auto swap.
