shift solenoid
Sorry for sounding redundant but I have a flashing O/D light on my dash now I go to have it checkled out. One of the mechanics tell me that I need a transmission. I was later told by another mechanic at the same establishmentioned that I was told that I'd be in nred of a new trans because the program that they use cannot read anything in regards to the transmission for this car. The OBD reader says P0753 shift silenoid A and P0773 shift silenoid E both say electrical. Now online I see a few shift silenoids but don't say if any of them are A or E. My question is does anyone know where I can find these 2 silenoids and would it be suggested to have these changed along with changing the fluid and filter. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I must add that the fluid isn't low or burnt looking on the dipstick.

The FSM (or the reprintings I have in ALLDATA) is annoying as all hell, because it describes the solenoids both with numbers (No. 1, 2, etc.) and with letters. From what I can see, No. 1 and 2 are A and B respectively, and E is Shift Solenoid "SL."
So you need to test/replace Shift Solenoid No. 1 and SL.
EDIT: Even if you've had threads before, you should post your vehicle details in each new thread. This is for your '94, right?

Yes this is for my 1994 ES300. It has become very frustrating more so when this guy said I need to get a new transmission. Thinking on the positive side because the only symptoms I'm seeing is that flashing O/D light and the sometime not shifting thing. I must add that the O/D light doesn't flash all of the time either and I don't have any CEL.

Well, flashing O/D light on Toyotas just indicates that there's a problem with the transmission.
Sometimes solenoid codes can be red herrings, but not often. For example, my '01 ES with a busted fluid pump throws codes for Shift Solenoid D and E, which both check out.
Your best bet is to drop the valve body and test the solenoids electrically. Also gives you a chance to gauge the condition of the trans by looking at the stuff in the pan/on the magnets.

Yes....the reader says silenoid A and E then underneath it reads ELECTRONIC. Really not sure if that means that those 2 silenoids are bad, maybe a faulty wire and or maybe because the fluid is old.
