I believe my issue is a vac leak as well, I have changed bank one sensor one a couple of times with aftermarket sensors and the codes keeps coming back. I own a 95 ES300 with over 292,000 miles on it. I have changed plugs and coils with after market parts. The knock sensors I had to get from the dealer because the after market ones were not compatible but it took me like 3 times to figure that out. I don't claim to be a mechanic but I do try and save on labor. I am still getting a lack of acceleration and sluggishness. All advice and help is greatly appreciated.
Man, I know they are expensive, but these cars only like Denso sensors. If its O2 or Air/Fuel sensors (Bank 1 or Bank 2 Upstream is Air/Fuel, and Downstream is O2), they HAVE to be Denso, or they aren't going to run correctly.
They have spent a full 8 hour shift diagnosing, and still have not yet been able to figure it out. They asked me what I wanted to do...
I want to get my car fixed LOL. At least I don't feel bad for not being able to narrow this down. They said they would have to begin charging me by the hour to diagnose it. O_O They did a smoke test, checked voltage output and verified the voltage readings of various sensors.
I think I am going to go pick it up and take it to Jason at JP Euro (Formerly JPImportz).
Well, the end of the week has come and gone. We now know it needed a new MAF. Fuel system checked out. That solved the lean codes. Then the tech drove it and it came back with a random cylinder misfire code. Tech called and said he wanted to run flow tests on cats. Bank 1 cat flow test was good, testing bank 2 on monday.
Ok, well, I got a call today to come pick it up. It's now giving a random cylinder misfire code. They cant figure it out. I am at my wits end here. Thinking i might just drive it till it splodes.
I am just about to the same point let it blow up! I have an old 3 ES 300 bought pretty cheap does it had a misfire. Ended up replacing coils plugs valve cover gaskets and it ran pretty smooth. Then I got the dreaded PO420 code and then after that got the po430 code. Ended up having to drive it just to get to work and make more money to buy more parts. So with me doing that the cat on Bank One started sucking through the exhaust pipe to the Y and clogging it up. After getting two new cats off eBay( for free I might add because the exhaust shop messed up and took a month to deliver them let me have them for free). Then I started experiencing a knock code on bank 2 as well as PO174 and p2241 and p2196 I replaced bank 2 air fuel sensor what's a Denso I might add but I'm still getting P0330 4 knock sensor 2 on bank 2 but my air fuel ratio seems to have leveled out so I'm kind of at a stand point right now trying to figure out if it's a bad knock sensor or event to is actually knocking causing the sensor to go off. Oh and forgot to mention I had to replace the radiator due to the neck deteriorating and a thermostat just because.
