Default the extinct es

I've been hunting this car, in this condition for a few years now. Found one locally and watched it for a few months, finally had the chance to get it at a very cheap price.

its a two owner (until I register it) 144k miles (bought at 138k) two tone es250. Almost mint, front seat bolsters have some damage to it as expected but the rear seats are golden. Service records since 1992, all original manual, guides and first aid kit. This is definitely a grail car knocked off my list.

Now I'm just trying to decide if I want to throw new shocks and some lowering springs on, or if I want to buy some coilovers and ride static low on some nice 16x9s. I've truly gotten what I've paid for because as such a cheap car, problems will arise.

Changed the spark plugs
Changed the valve cover gasket
Changed the pcv valve
Changed the p.I.t.a maf sensor
Needing to change the IAC or stepper motor
Needs a little more TLC and a little upholstery work and I think it'll be a decent daily.

I definitely have some options in regards to wheels around my city. Was going to go the 5x100~5x114 adapter route but I feel like sticking with the true 5x100 would just have a better feel overall. I've had several short term wheels + drop projects on cars I've always wanted so this will probably get the same treatment and possibly sold when another grail of mine pops up.

Sidenote: what are you guys opinions on these things with mufflers, or straightpipes? They sound pretty sick to me, just can't tell if its unbearable in person or more tolerable with just an aftermarket euro styled muffler.

If you want to hear the engine more remove the resonator in the fender. Bigger exhaust pipes and all that will probably make the engine lose power and will be out of character for the car. If you want to actually gain power get rid of the crossover exhaust setup and get a custom Y-pipe made, this is not easy but you'll gain at least 10 horsepower. This is legit the crossover pipe really kills power on this engine.

Nice find.
Reminds me of the Cressida from back in the day.

installed nardi gara 4, nardi cruise control button + horn, aluminum radiator

installing new timing belt, new water pump, new gaskets, porting and polishing intake manifold and throttle body.

also doing the AFM tuning trick to get a better hp / torque curve out of this thing.

still unsure if i want to go low and wide, or semi low with a thin rare wheel and beefy *** tire and just cruise.

Which aluminum rad did you install? Does it fit properly? I suggest going with some 16" wheels which works out to a 205/50r16 tire. Anything bigger doesn't look right unless you get super low profile rubber then the ride goes to crap. Not sure that wheel is my style but it is a beautiful piece of hardware.

not many made for this car, so its probably cheaply made but i got it for $108 in an auction on ebay. Fan shroud, two fans and the aluminum rad of course.

That's the same unit, well really the only one I've seen on Ebay either with or without fans. I was just wondering about fitment if it's good I'm interested in getting one.
