Intermediate steering shaft.
hello everyone,
I just got my car back from the Lexus dealer and they say the intermediate steering shaft needs to be replaced. I have heard strange noises from the area so I'm not too surprised. I have never heard of this issue on a lexus before, General motors yes. Has anyone had this happen before? Its on my 05 es 330.
thank you

You might be able to fix this by injecting grease into the shaft bearing scroll down this TSB

But you need to be more specific on what you mean by strange noises. Sometimes the rubber boot rubs against the steering shaft and makes groaning or squealing noises this can be fixed by applying a synthetic grease.

This is a common problem with all Camry's, and by extension the ES.
First try greasing it. If there's excessive play, or it binds after greasing it then you'd need to replace the shaft.
