Yesterday, a particularly cold day in Southwest Florida, I tried to get some heat in my 2003 ES300. I've owned the car for almost three years and I'm not sure if I ever tried to get heat before. Strangely, with the temperature all the way up and the word "hot" showing on the display for both left and right, heat was blowing out of the right side vents on the dashboard and much cooler air was blowing out of the vents on the left side. I'm going to be driving to a much colder climate (Michigan) in January so I need to get this situation straightened out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Starting with the basics I would check the coolant level by removing the radiator cap when the engine is cold. Sometimes the level appears OK if you only look at the recovery tank. Next would be burping the system to ensure a little bit of air is not allowing good coolant flow in the heater core.
I agree, checking the fill and burping it would be the first step. Getting it somewhat inclined is a big aid; uphill (there is one up around Mt. Dora, Fla. if you get that far inland/north ). So thus, on ramps would aid it. Idle it until the thermostat opens and then let it run a few minutes that way.
If you haven't performed a coolant service since you had it, this may have been lingering. What color is the fluid in it and do you know who serviced it last?
