Hi guys, this sound like a stupid thread, but... since my dad bought his ES330, he does not like that the dome lights do not come on when you open up any of the doors. Is there any way to possibly get then to come on when you do open the doors? Since he he getting older, It would really adda l ot to seeing a lot better when you are getting in to the car.

I know how a lot of guys are wizzes at this kind of stuff.

Is the switch set to "door"? If so does the lamp in the cluster come on when you open any door? Maybe the bulb is burnt out. If you want more light get something like this -

There is no switch to set it to door. There is a square button for the left and right sides, but no switch. When you push the buttons in that light on that side will come on.

I am talking about the over head area near the front windshield.

That's not the dome light it is called a console light or map light. Did you check the bulbs? Those lights are not supposed to come on with the door open.

Sorry about the incorrect term.

This is why I was asking about some wizz on this sight that might know how to get them to turn on when you open the doors. They should come on when the doors open. The dome light is worthless.

It is much easier to put in a brighter dome light bulb versus re-wiring the map lights.

I drove them home from the casino the other night and when I got in to the car, I thought those map lights should come on when the doors opened. I think that is a poor decision by Lexus not to have them come on. I will look for a brighter dome bulb for my dad.
