2000 mushy gas pedal
My son's 2000 ES 300 exhibits a flat or mushy gas pedal at times. While cruising, when he pushes the pedal to accelerate, no response. It is intermittent. The car has 170k miles.
I told him to run some Techroline through a tank of good premium gas.
Is it likely dirty injectors, or something more involved like o2 sensors?
Thanks

Sluggish throttle response?
Hows the transmission shifting for the car? The 1999-2001 ES300 transmission wasn't known to be Toyota reliable models. I would check transmission fluid condition and level and go from there. Any DTC/CEL codes should be read as well and if you are able to, get the STFT and LTFT as this could point to a possible vacuum leak.

The transmission should be good, as we replaced it about 1 1/2 years ago, and it has been fine since.
There is no slippage going on, the revs aren't increasing, its just like the gas pedal is dead when you go to accelerate when you are on the highway sometimes.
I will have him get the codes read at an Autozone. What is STFT and LTFT?
Thanks.

Clean your Mass Airflow Sensor and change your air filter. At any auto parts store you can buy Mass Airflow Sensor cleaner. Spray it down good, inside and out and then let it dry.
Two screws. 15 minute update.
