Trunk light doesn't always come on
It's been like this for over a year. I feel like there is some kind of issue with the car sensing that the trunk has been opened (and thus turning the trunk light on). It only comes on sometimes after opening the trunk and then lifting.
Last year when it started happening, I looked around and couldn't really figure anything out. I didn't strip the whole trunk open or disassemble the latch area.
Anyone ever had this problem and figured it out?

Trunk Light fix
My 2003 was the trunk latch would not move to the full open position by a millimeter or two, because the plastic casing gets gummed up, or chewed up, inside it from all the closings. Try pushing the lock latch on the under side of the trunk lid, all the way back to the fully open position with a screw driver, and see if the light comes on. If so clean up the inside of the plastic cover and lube it up with some silicone spray,

You're right. The lock latch part of the trunk door itself works as the sensor for the light. I can turn the light on if I stick my finger in it and push it right when the light didnt initially come on. I'll have to clean and lube it with silicon soon!
