Default Flaming ignition coil

I was cruising down a bridge off ramp this morning on my way to work when the dreaded CEL came on, and quickly went to flashing. I figured immediately that it was a bad coil pack, although I figured I wouldn't be able to confirm until I got home and plugged in the scan tool. (which of course had been removed from the car, along with the spare coils, about 2 nights ago) But as I pulled in into the parking lot at work, I smelled a smell and noticed some smoke coming out of the hood. The coil pack was ON FIRE. Now let's see, was it bank 1 or bank 2?...oh yeah THE BURNING ONE. Diagnosis confirmed! Luckily I extinguished it before it damaged more than the connector it was on. Got a new connector coming tomorrow and plenty of coils. Anything I should be on the look out for? I figure if there are no shorts in the connector/harness, then the issue arose from the coil itself? Any tips appreciated, can't find too much info on burning coil packs out there.

I've never seen this happen. If the replacement works properly then it was likely just the coil itself that failed not because of the signal sent to it. Although a coil should not start on fire no matter the signal sent to it.
