second time having this issue. Neither fans are working. Last time it was just a lack of coolant, not completely wetting the ECT sensor #1 (radiator fan switch) and the problem was solved when I added more coolant.
Now, the car is overheating again, I performed the diagnosing tests (see photo) got the car to 210°F and fans weren't spinning. Unplugged ECT connector 1, fans still didn't kick on. Replaced ECT #1 like suggested. Still no fans at any temperature above or below 208°F. About to say fck it and sell the car to someone who wants to deal with it. Any suggestions or advice? Anyone had this problem before?

Tap on the fan shroud with the big end of a screw driver, near the fan motor, and see if the fan will turn on or move slightly.
If it does turn/start working, you will need to replace the fan motors.(vehicle might need to reach near operating temperature before performing this test).

I'm just going to directly test it with jumper wires

that's more work, but it works too. the tap method is the first step for me when I diagnose any fan issue on older cars here at Lexus.

How does the tap method work?

these fans build up brush material from the brushes inside the housings of the fan motors over time, and the brushes will either loose contact or wear completely. by tapping on it you make the brushes contact in turn causing fan motors to operate.

If this the case when you replace them if you turn them face down, all the old brush material will fall out.
very common problem when it comes to age of vehicle, sometimes a quick fix if you are stuck in the middle of nowhere.
