Default ES330 Emergency Trunk Handle Removal

Hi, I have to replace one of my license plate bulbs and I'm guessing I have to remove the trunk lid cover. I tried pulling on the handle and it would not come off although i didn't really try to tug on it to hard,, I was worried I might break it and I wasn't sure on how it comes off so, does anyone know how to remove this handle? Thanks in advance.

If I recall, you would manipulate the the inner trunk covering to go around the handle. This isn't from an ES, but memory of doing this on a different car. Try to loose all the clips and work the whole thing off of and round the handle

The “face” of the handle pops off with a knife edge. The tangs that come up through the center of the handle can be pushed towards the center with a butter knife or spoon and yes, you do have to pull with a little force. A little Vaseline will help. While it’s off, take a little sandpaper and remove just a little off the tangs on the center post to make it easier next time. There are two clips under the trunk liner you can’t see and are glued to the liner. Remove the trunk liner by pulling the liner towards the the bottom lip of the trunk lip instead of away from trunk.

great info and thanks, I ordered some Led's off ebay and they should be here soon and I'll give it try. I know of the 2 white clips near the trunk mount, I removed the back lights to tint them and found those clips. There is noway i could see to change the bulbs without removing the lid cover or my hands are to big. Thanks
