Question ES owners who've removed "L" emblems, few questions!

I saw in a post by meZoom! a while back that the L's are held in with pins that go through the sheet metal. Are the pins hooked on to the metal or can they easily slide out?

Thanks!

The easiest way to remove ANY emblem off any vehicle is with fishing line.

You slide it underneath and slowly and carefully pully away from the vehicle.

I have sucessfully removed silver emblems for a 92 ES300 and replaced them with gold!

(I sold the silver immediately after)

I bought an entire set of chrome emblems for $10 from another CL member, just have to meet up with him to make the transaction. Then I'm planning to sand, prime, paint, and finally clearcoat the chrome emblems either black pearl or flat black.

I'm thinking about using a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive glue and then slowly procede to lift the emblem with dental floss.

How's that sound?

My friend, who used to be a CL member (don't ask, long story... ), did the same black pearl conversion on his silver emblems for his '90 LS. I got a chance to look at the results, and they look just as good as the real deal, but at a much cheaper cost (I can't believe how expensive a set of Lexus black pearl emblems is!). Clearcoat is obviously important so that the paint doesn't fade out from the UV rays.

Go for it dude
