'95 es300 - temperature gauge stuck
Hi,
I've had my 1995 ES300 for about a year and the temperature gauge has always been stuck on 1/4 away from the cold setting. It's like this even if the car is off. It's just stuck.
I'm going to change the coolant and thought I'd replace the temperature sender at the same time and see if it fixes it. I looked online and I'm unsure which part it is I'm supposed to replace. Does anyone have any info on this job? A picture of where it's located would be great too. Any tips to doing this job?
Thanks.

Gauge sending unit looks like this

Not sure exactly where it is (maybe near the water neck timing belt side) but it is probably not your problem you can verify by removing the connector see if the gauge changes. Could be that your instrument cluster has failed.

Sounds like the needle is stuck you could try grounding the sensor wire through a light bulb maybe that will get the needle moving but I doubt it. Generation 2 ES clusters have not been as reliable as they should be, for example the LEDs fail I've heard of the fuel needle going bad same problem as you won't move.
