99 ES300 rear lights out.
Driving home tonight, rear light idiot light pops on in the instrument panel. I figured I lost one rear light.
Turns out both are out, which seems odd that two would go. All brake lights fine.
Before I dig in, did I lose a fuse somewhere, or is it both rear bulbs?
TIA for any BTDTs!

It's possible both bulbs went out easy enough to check. Other possibilities are broken/frayed wires in the trunk where the loom bends, or the lamp failure box has burned out. I've seen where the frayed wires shorted to the chassis and blew a fuse.

Thx, Lex2000, I will be checking all that this weekend. If it’s not the bulbs, I’ll break out the DMM and start testing.
Perhaps switch as well, to be continued...

If the lights you are talking about are on the trunk lid, the cause could be a broken wire. Check the wires at the hinge of the trunk lid on the driver's side. Typical problem in Camry's as well as ES300.

Follow up: bulb continuity checked out, 12V getting to bulb sockets, hmmmm. Put bulbs back in, and they light up.
Touch of corrosion perhaps, after 19+ years? Original bulbs, as well.
Back in business. The kind of repair I like!
