Default Power Steering Line: OEM or After-Market? ES 330 2004

ES 330 2004: The issue is whether OEM is necessary for this part to ensure proper fit. If not, does anyone know a good after-market manufacturer? Evan-Fischer seems to be claiming that they have an OEM-like fit. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks! Ron

I have not had good luck with aftermarket lines. One I installed caused pump noise in cold weather with a cold engine. Another blew up after about a year, maybe you'll have better luck. The noisy one was made by Eedelmann.

I'll cross Edelmann off the list. Thanks. I am becoming suspicious of the after-market for this part. I think I would need someone to say that a specific brand worked fine.

I was disappointed considering Edelmann makes PS lines for many models maybe mine was not the norm. I ended up putting in a low mileage used OEM part. Speaking of OEM I don't get why PS lines are so expensive this for example no way it should be $370.

You can have the oe hose rebuilt. Look or ask for local industrial specialists. I use “House of Hose” in Spokane, for example, and ship it. It splits the difference between nose-bleed dealer parts and questionable aftermarket.

Now that is an interesting thought! I will consider it for future hoses. This one, however, needs to be done this week. But, again, a fascinating idea. Thanks!

The O'rielly's Auto parts in town here makes custom high pressure hoses on site. I would imagine there are others that do too.

That is surprising. There is an O'Reilly's nearby and that may be a great option for a future job. I ended up locating an OEM pipe for $70 including shipping. The risk of a wrong bend or poor fit was too great to use an after-market part. And no after-market company seemed to stand out for hoses or high-pressure tubing. In fact, the pictures of their part they displayed often differed from the that of the Lexus part. Also, no forum or mechanic I spoke with would sing the praises of any of them and noted the risks of additional labor costs for a bad fit. Case closed. Thank you everyone for helping me think through the project.
