Default ES330 Headlights & Taillights on a 2002 ES300

I've seen a few threads on it but never really got a clear answer so i'd appreciate it if someone could help. I just purchased a 2002 ES300 and it has the factory HID headlights. I'm looking to purchase the ES330 HID headlights with projectors, is it a direct bolt-on with the same bulbs? For the tail-lights it's been mentioned that the stock harness does not fit. What modifications need to be made?

Thanks!!

I’m really curious about the headlights. I have an 06 and want to replace my nasty headlight housings. Do you plan to use LED bulbs?

Retaining the factory HIDs would be preferable but if not then i'll probably go LED or an aftermarket HID kit.

I’ve read that HID is becoming non existant and everyone is using LED now. Do you know if you can just plug and play with LED bulbs into stock housings?

No, the HID units are different than a traditional housing. Only HID bulbs will fit it. Any re-based LED bulbs you can find to fit in the housing will not be bright enough for use as low beams. HID is far superior to LED for light output. HID is far from nonexistent. Kits are sold everywhere. Best to use an aftermarket kit in your HID housings, or run an aftermarket kit in the 330 projector housings. At the very least put in new bulbs. As the bulbs age, they color shift. 4300k (factory HID color) will turn pink over time. 5000K will shift more towards the blue, then into the purple. Since the HID's have the ballasts integrated into the housings, and they rarely fail, I would just grab some new bulbs from a reputable place like XenonDepot.com.

Army, I’m going to pick your brain when I’m ready to do everything next year. I used xenondepot.com when I did retrofitted my headlights on an es300 years ago. I used Phillips 4300k bulbs.

What bulbs would you recommend if I just want to stick with halogen? I’ll be getting new housings but don’t want to spend a lot on HID. I was thinking of just getting some from Lexus, I know most don’t last longer than a year

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. Once you have been driving with HID, you will struggle with halogen. You said you have factory HID's right? If so, then this is the bulb you need:

https://www.xenondepot.com/D2R-HID-Bulb-p/xt-d2r.htm

2 Bulbs for $59.99? Great deal IMO. You will spend that on the brightest halogen bulbs and get half the life and half the light output.

No I never said I have factory HID. I am getting new headlight housings and can either go with non HID or HID though...assuming I can use the HID housing in my car if it didn’t come with that from the dealer.

I would like to stick with OEM housings though. If that’s what you mean...

Bulbs no they don’t have to be OEM lol.

One question would be are LED's brighter than halogen. Which are better for range LEDs? or Halogens?

The order is: Halogen<LED<HID for brightness in low beam configurations.

Get LEDs with a suitable heatsink or integrated fan.
