Fastest I've been
Weee just walked in the door. Was comming home north on 280 N heading towards Birmingham, AL. Wound up racing a honey in a Toyota Land cruiser. (Hottie, but she had some seriously aggressive driving issues... Guys it's one thing If you're gonna drive fast. It's another to be aggressive when you do it.)
Anyways, we met up with an older guy heading towards Tn in a turbo beetle.
Don't worry about tubro beetles on the highway guys... ES has it 70-redline. We started at 70 and I was slowly pulling a head of him. By 105 it was a distance. I guess he quit at 120 because at that point it was a route. Got the speedo to go abit bit past 140 on a medium long incline. Before anyone brings it up I KNOW 140 is atleast "close in the ballpark". I've driven 135-140 with a friend in his Maxima severial times now, and he's governed at 140. (<cough> all though he still has power left while I'm completely out of steam LoL!)
Anyways... Cars fine in a striaght line as stated elsewhere... I wouldn't advise anyone cornering even interstate grade curves much over 100 without serious suspension stiffning, but that's a given anyone that's even driven one of these knows.
I will give VW one thing though. That little spoiler that pops up at 90 is pretty neat. Guess we can always just raise the moonroof!

One of these days I'll get some pics for you guys. I'm still waiting on a
"special friend" to come along that will actually sit in the back seat at WOT out on I65 north of where I come from. (Gardendale, N of Birmingham)
Fairly stout incline. Oh yeah... All 2.4 miles of straight down hill goodness.
I rode with a friend in his z28 one day. oooOOOooo too fast for me LoL! straight line or not.

Be careful, I know I don't feel real comfortable in the ES above 100, 120 was about as far as I pushed it; even with 18's and suspsension modifications, still didn't feel safe. I'm unnerved a little more easily than some though, I had a rollover that gave me a real good scare and some restraint a few years back.

My choice.
However in my time of being here you'll find there is a very staunch record of NOT approving of the following:
Riding in packs, endangering other people and DRIVING AGGRESSIVELY.
No offince taken. Can't remember everything about everybody...

Where is the fun in topping out an ES300?
I could see if you were in a monster HP sports car it might be engaging to give it a quick run just to see how quick it was on the top end. But when you top out a V6 luxury car you end up looking like a tool to people as you drive by... not to mention I can't imagine it being all that fun.
For the record, according to Cartest2000, a 97 ES300 should top out at 138 MPH and a 94 at 134 MPH.
