This has been asked a lot, do some research please.
I would leave the car how it is, it's not meant to be fast, it's meant to be reliable, which it is very much.

You really should be looking for a different car to mod.

Listen to the advice from everyone and do not ruin your ES buy adding performance parts.

So you want power into the ES? Ask yourself this, do you have the funds to do so? I am not turning you away from any of it, I would be a hypocrite if I told you so.

If you can do the 5 speed swap, it will make the care a hell of a lot faster already. You can also do exhaust, Intake, and headers, but realistically speaking probably only help you gain 5, 10 hp. But sure as hell makes you feel faster LOL

Next step from all that is either Supercharger or Turbo. All will run you over 2.5k for little return. Supercharger runs hot, so if anything smaller than the factory pully, you will need meth injection. Turbo would be fun, IMO, but not many people have don it on the ES300, so you gotta research the camry/solara to see how they did it.

Enjoy!

I agree with this^.

Your generation is the last ES that shares 99% of its entire assemblage (other than exterior body parts) with the Camry of the same vintage.

Any performance parts that will fit the Camry V6, will fit your car.

My focus would not be on improving power first, but improving acceleration. Start with an underdrive pulley from Non-Stop Tuning. A search will bring up the link. Then, sort the transmission. I agree that in this cars case, a 5 speed swap is best if you want to put down power. The problem is that isn't something the average person can do in their garage. So if you can't, don't attempt it.

In todays age many cars start out at 250 or greater on the HP. Using boost or whatever means to achieve 300HP is not going make you a track car all of a sudden, but typical maneuvers such as passing or accelerating will be easier and safer with more power. More power on tap increases the driving pleasure for anyone who enjoys cars.

For the weight 300HP would make it much more fun for the daily drive. The way to get there with the 3.0L or 3.3L engine is by adding BOOST. Turbo charging or the TRD supercharger. They are doing this on the Camrys. For the people who said it's a "bad" idea, there are plenty of Sedans with good power and it makes driving them much more fun.

Man get a fun car not this boat. Completely wrong car for fun. If you wanna build a crotch rocket, get a civic. It'll last longer and do better with mods and be cheaper.

The car is a sedan, it's curb weight is ONLY 3,439 lbs. Modern day sedans are 3,950-4,200 lbs. That 600-800lbs of weight is a BIG difference. With 300-350HP this thing will BOOGIE.

A CTS-V weighs 4300lbs
A Challenger weighs 3975lbs
A C63 Mercedes weighs 4100lbs
A E63 Mercedes weighs 4200lbs
A modern mustang weighs 3850lbs
S-Class Mercedes is 4775lbs
BMW 540i is 3950lbs

The car is LIGHT for todays standards and a reasonable power level will change your entire perception.

Some of us like ALL of our vehicles to have some enhancements and a good amount of power.

The answer is BOOST. This is my current viewpoint for anyone with a 4 cyllinder or 6 cyllinder that can use a little more power. Having the power isn't all about "fun", it's also about safety, because there are some driving manuevers where having more power is safer. Such as turning into a busy street or a u-turn into a busy street, or merging into traffic... In those situations having more power is more responsible and safer. It will also improve your driving enjoyment.
