Default Smoked/Tinted Taillights

I've been looking at some of the posts about taillight removal but I was wondering if anyone has tried or even though of smoking out the the clear portion of their lights. Im not talking about making them so dark you can barley see anything (like some people do to their trucks or mustangs), just a light tint. I've seen some auctions for spray on e-bay but it seems questionable. Anyway heres a picture of what Im talking about,

The back of the Mercedes C class is a little closer to what Im talking about

I have an 01 by the way

Yes, I tried that too with 35% window tint. I "translucent-smoked" the entire taillight It looked amazing!!!

It was only temporary since window tint obviously isn't durable, but a body shop could do it permanently.

Are you thinking about doing it?

not sure yet, I took a look at geroge's 98, Im not looking to do the whole thing though. if I were to do it at all I would only be interested in smoking the clear strip in the middle that the 00-01 tails have. plus I tend to want to get things done right the first time, so if there aren't any long term durable solution I might just forget it.
