Hello,
I blew another door speaker and was wondering if anyone ever tried aftermarket 6.5” speakers in their place. I have little faith that they would be equal let alone better, but figured I’d ask. I don’t want to give up any bass or move the “center” of the sound, as the aftermarkets will likely be 3-way, which will make highs down by feet
thanks

Rather pricey no? I've heard Hertz speakers they are fantastic, clean sound no embellishment or harshness.

Yeah it wasn’t cheap at all. Sound deaden the doors like I did if you really want the music to come alive. You can just get a cheap little set up and it will sound much nicer than the stock crap.

Well its quite important to me to keep the stock head unit. Is it externally amped like camry/solara JBL just out of curiosity?
would some decent 3-way 6.5's do the trick with the stock unit? that site for replacement speakers is interesting but I cant find the specs on the stock speaker (86160-33620 is the part number) to try to match it. My barely educated guess would be that higher watt Pioneer speakers from Walmart with 3 way drivers would sound awful as they would have no base compared to stock but have highs that are in the wrong location.
I was happy with the stock sound but I blew two speakers in 30,000 miles. First time this has happened and I am at least a 500,000 guy in multiple yodas.

Stock speakers are 4 ohms. I personally downright hate most 2 and 3-way speakers I think they sound terrible and have poor bass. The site I posted is good because you can get speakers that are constructed very similar to the stock units. Your average Pioneer, Alpine and the like speakers require a beefy amp to sound good the factory amp is not that. Your car does have an external amplifier.

Cool - I like it, they were reasonably priced. Looks like stock ones aren't bad, either. If I can find a wrecked Scion TC first gen, they have the same speakers and the yard charges 4. I may just wwant to stock up. Thanks for the info
Does anybody know the watts of 4es stock front door speakers? I assume if its the same size, same watts, same ohms, it will work great. All it needs is lower mids and bass.
